EZKRIMA aims to make fencing be easily accessible to interested Filipinos by establishing club presence in major cities. EZKRIMA aims to foster camaraderie and sportmanship among Filipinos throughout the country via EZKRIMA-organized intercity and interregion fencing competitions. History First it was a Proactive Fencing Club that was founded in 2006 to introduce fencing to those who are interested. The club founder, Ms. Bev Santos, a former national team and gold medalist in the epee event of the 1992 Southeast Asian Fencing Federation , noticed that fencing was offered by universities for their varsity teams. She wanted to offer beginners’ classes to people outside universities. She posted invitations for beginners’ classes through the internet via forum websites and its own website proactivefencing.info. Proactivefencing.info has been a top result in Google and Yahoo under the keywords: fencing lesson Philippines, fencing lesson manila, and the like. Since then, epee classes have been given to highschool students and young professionals. In March 2007, the club offered all three weapons for beginners: foil, epee and saber and started training kids from 6 yrs. old and above. Proactive Fencing Club students have ranked in the Top 8 of the 2006 National Novice Competitions. In November 2007, Proactive Fencing Club changed itself to an academy to project a more professional image.
In 2008, the academy has evolved to a corporation when Ms. Bev Santos invited Mr. Vier Tajonera, a former National team and SEA Games gold medalist in Saber team event, to be one of its board of directors and Head Coach. Thus EZKRIMA Incorporated was formed.
